Saskatoon’s Best Loaves of Bread

In a province known as Canada’s ‘breadbasket’ for grain production, it makes perfect sense that Saskatoon is a hot spot for bread lovers. From bakeries that have been here for nearly a century to newer ones on the rise, there’s no shortage of amazing locally-made loaves here in Saskatoon. In no particular order, find your next loaf in this round-up of Saskatoon’s best bread.

Christie’s Bakery

Open since 1932, Christie’s officially holds the title of longest-running bakery in Saskatoon! You can get your fix of Christie’s bread at two different locations: Christie's Mayfair Bakery on 33rd Street, or Christie's Il Secondo just off Broadway. Their selection ranges from North American style sandwich bread and buns to European artisan loaves; not to mention the wood-fired pizza at the Il Secondo location.

Nutana Bakery

A staple of the Broadway neighbourhood for decades, Nutana Bakery is a Saskatoon classic for a reason. You can find cinnamon loaf, white bread, whole wheat, and 12 grain breads when you visit, as well as sourdough on Saturdays! While technically not a loaf of bread, I would like to give a shoutout to the cinnamon bun the size of my head that I brought home with me.
