Celebrate Northern Plains Indigenous cultures this National Indigenous Peoples Day at Wanuskewin!
Presented by Nutrien, National Indigenous People’s Day Celebration is an annual day celebrating Indigenous cultures, histories, and teachings.
9:30 a.m. – Site opens
10:00 a.m. – National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration event opening
11:00 a.m. – All activities start–details about activities and times are further below. Join us to experience:
- Dance / Drum Presentations throughout the day – at 11:45 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:15 p.m.
- Fiddle Presentation – at 11:00 a.m.
- Keynote Speaker Jessica Genereaux – Indigenous Storytelling in Saskatchewan – A path to reconciliation – at 1:00 p.m.
- Storytelling Session with Randy Morin – at 12:00 p.m.
- Community Art with Leah Dorion – at 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Community Art with Aleksi Anseth – at 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Saskatoon Public Library will be on-site with Where We Grow, a large-scale community LEGO® mosaic
- Public archaeology with the Saskatchewan Archaeological Society – at 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Gallery Tours of You See Me/Kiwapamin – at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.
- Plant Walks with ethnobotanist Sandra Walker – at 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
- Visitor Services programming with our Interpretive Guides – at 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
- Bannock Bake in the Tipi Village (weather pending) – at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
