Red Dress Day Event
We are inviting families of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirit peoples to honour Red Dress Day with us on May 5, 2025 in Saskatoon. The day will include:
Knowledge Sharing (10am – 3pm) Focused on prevention, we will host a Knowledge Sharing that includes information booths, speakers and art activities.
There will be a program from 11am – 12pm at Cosmo Civic Centre, with bagged lunches and snacks to takeaway or eat there.
Community members are invited to sign up for “Training Active Bystanders” from 12:30pm – 2:30pm.
Red Dress Day Walk (4pm start) The walk will begin at 4pm. Faith Bosse, daughter of Daleen Bosse, is the founder of this walk and will say a welcome.
We’ll have Knowledge Keepers, traditional drummers and smudging to start the walk in a good way. The route will take approximately an hour and there will be golf cart transportation for anyone for whom walking the route is a barrier.
Family Dinner & Support (following the walk) After the walk, families are invited to join us for soup and bannock as they listen to speakers. There will be mental health supports and Knowledge Keepers present for anyone who wishes to end the day in a circle of support.
Family members are invited to speak, if they wish. We are asking families to please register by April 15, 2025. Support is available for travel and accommodation, but we need to know in advance to make those arrangements.
You can register by contacting: Myrna Laplante at mlaplante@mns.ca or Dorthea Swiftwolfe at dorthea.swiftwolfe@saskatoon.ca
