4 Days
Discover Saskatoon- Fields & Foodies
Day 1
Lunch at Odd Couple
Odd Couple is located in the heart of Riversdale and is family owned and operated by Andy Yuen, his wife Rachel, and parents Sam and Jane. Since immigrating to Saskatchewan from Hong Kong in 1996, The Yuen Family has been closely tied to the Chinese Canadian restaurant business in several communities across the province. Odd Couple was born out of the desire to recreate Canadian-Asian favourites in a fun, thoughtful expression of the union between East and West.
With ingredients and cooking techniques inspired by Cantonese, Vietnamese, and Japanese cuisines, Odd Couple adds a unique Asian influence to popular Canadian dishes. Think maple glazed bacon and a farm fresh egg atop a heaping plate of Chinese BBQ pork and jasmine fried rice.
Wanuskewin
Located 15 minutes outside of the city, visit one of Canada's most vibrant, authentic Indigenous experiences: Wanuskewin. The name means “gathering place,” and has remained so for thousands and thousands of years. Relive the stories of the people who came here to hunt bison, gather food and herbs, and take shelter from the winter winds so long ago. This history comes to life alongside thriving modern Indigenous culture. A proposed UNESCO world heritage site, Wanuskewin has the longest-running archeology site in Canada with artifacts dating back 6,400 years — that’s older than the Egyptian pyramids!
Upon arrival at the park, your clients will be welcomed with a tea and smudging ceremony. They will then be guided through art exhibits, where they can experience media, visual, and performance art by contemporary and traditional Indigenous artists. Following the interactive exhibits, your clients will learn the teachings of the tipi in the tipi village. Then take a step back in time and explore the archaeological dig sites. Take in a traditional dance from one of our local Indigenous community members, who will not only perform a dance that is over 600 years old, but welcome your clients to join them! Your clients will love moving to the powerful beat of the drum after they’ve learned the intricacies and deep meaning of each step. Learn about the recently reintroduced herd of plains bison onto the land and why this action has historical and spiritual meaning to the many different Indigenous people that have gathered here.
At Wanuskewin, locals and visitors alike learn and understand the diverse and rich culture of Indigenous peoples. This sacred ground will provide your clients with an incredible connection to the land, history, and themselves.
Champetre County
Travel back in time to Champetre County, a family owned, country themed event space. Your clients will be welcomed to the Town of Tumbleweed where your clients will climb aboard a horse-drawn wagon and get toured around this expansive landscape. The views are what photographs are made of. They can wander the grounds and many buildings, spotting cowboys, farm animals, and an old way of life. Get lost in the corral maze, which has been featured on productions like the Amazing Race, and then make your way back in time for the dinner bell. Your clients will get to experience a pitchfork steak fondue, an experience that is sure to make the postcard (or social post!). After supper, they’ll hear campfire stories told by the Sheriff before heading out for a night hike, where you can hear the coyotes howling. Stay the night at one of the rustic and authentic houses, surrounded by trees and the old country. Your clients will leave Champêtre County with an inner peace, having experienced the simpler things in life, while learning about Saskatchewan and the prairies in a unique way.

Day 2
Beaver Creek Conservation Area
Your clients will start their day connecting with nature at Beaver Creek, a conservation area located just a short 15-minute drive from the downtown core. This controlled ecosystem has 4 nature trails to explore and discover, including prairie, forest, sheltered creek, and river valley habitats. Explore the Interpretive Centre, try feeding the chickadees by hand, and take in one of the regular interpretive programs offered throughout the year.
Beaver Creek Conservation Area
Lunch at Dakota Dunes Resort
Located on traditional Whitecap Dakota Unceded Territory, nestled within a beautiful river setting and surrounded by gently rolling natural sand dunes, Dakota Dunes Resort is Saskatoon’s first full-service resort experience. Lunch will be served at Moose Woods Home Fire Grill which incorporates bold flavours inspired by local heritage & culinary traditions. Following lunch there is an abundance of opportunities for activities, such as indigenous games, bannock & bonfire or e-bike rentals.
Crossmount Cider Company
As you leave Dakota Dunes, and just a short 15 minutes away, you will find a Mediterranean garden surrounded by an apple orchard. Yes, apples in Saskatchewan! Welcome to Crossmount Cider Company. Your clients can experience a guided tour of the orchard and finish off with a tasting of delicious ciders. Experience first hand one of the newest sectors in Saskatoon. Crossmount’s beautiful facility is a field-to-cork cidery in every sense of the term.
Black Fox Farm and Distillery
A visit to Black Fox Farm and Distillery creates a craving for the farm life many of their visitors have never lived. The folks at Black Fox are third-generation farmers. Sharing their passion for agriculture with visitors, this place will hug you like a family home, complete with a crafted gin and tonic on the table. The Saskatoon distillery grows 90% of its ingredients on the farm, and every spirit has been fermented and distilled by them. Using different grains and botannicals, the Saskatoon distillery brings out the natural flavour from the earth through their agricultural passion. Your clients’ experience can include tours of the distillery, flower picking, pumpkin festivals, and of course, sipping world-class gin! Each facet of Black Fox is an opportunity for the owners, Barb and John, to share their farm with you.
Farm One Forty
No visit to Saskatoon is complete without seeing the full agriculture and food chain in action. Farm One Forty will transform the way your clients think about sustainability. Experience real food that feeds and heals your family, and be blown away by the bold farm flavours and freshness! There’s no omnivore's dilemma or ethical debate here — enjoy pasture raised pork and grass-fed beef and lamb while learning about their holistic farming practices. Your clients will be greeted with a cocktail and a tour of the farm, while the family explains sustainable and regenerative farming practices. Then they’ll eat a Farm Harvest dinner, dining on the nourishing foods grown here. Connect with locals over campfire and entertainment, making your heart as full as your belly.
Day 3
Makers Malt
Maker’s Malts was formed by a small collective of farmers who have decades of experience growing high quality malt barley. The concept of doing a start up craft malting operation was born out of the success of the recent Craft Beer movement. Matt and his team saw a disconnect between the needs of the local craft brewer/distiller and the typical source of their malt supply. Treat your clients to a tour of the malt house where you can see the grain from the Makers Malt family is being transformed into the province's finest beer. Extend your experience and head out into the field with this grain farming family and catch a glimpse of the crop, its stage of seeding, growing or harvest.
Lunch at Station Arts Centre
A short 5 minute drive from Makers Malt is The Station Arts Centre. Through the hard work, foresight of numerous volunteers and generosity of donors, the Centre has become a vibrant venue promoting the work of Saskatchewan and Canadian artists while providing patrons with ongoing opportunities to enjoy and share experiences with professional and emerging artists in music, visual art and drama. The home of the Station Arts Centre is a renovated CN Railway Station in Rosthern Saskatchewan serving as an art gallery, seminar space, Tea Room and Performing arts Theatre.

",
