Collected: 90 Years, 90 Object
Drawn entirely from the Museum’s permanent collection, Collected: 90 Years, 90 Objects celebrates the Ukrainian Museum of Canada’s 90th anniversary through ninety remarkable objects.
From family heirlooms and works of art to photographs, documents, and everyday objects, these pieces tell the story of a museum shaped by thousands of people who contributed to a shared collection.
The exhibition traces the Museum’s beginnings in 1936 and the vision of the women of the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada, who believed Ukrainian culture deserved to be recognized, studied, and shared. From the first embroidered sleeves contributed by women across Canada to recent acquisitions, Collected celebrates a community that built—and continues to shape—one of North America’s most important collections of Ukrainian material culture.
