2026 Ācimowin Film Festival

As the only Indigenous film festival in the province, Ācimowin Film Festival is dedicated to elevating Indigenous voices, strengthening prairie filmmakers and helping build a thriving film industry rooted in Indigenous perspectives and experiences. 

By creating a platform dedicated to Indigenous visual storytelling, Ācimowin Film Festival seeks to empower Indigenous voices to share their truths, provide meaningful learning opportunities for allies, and offer Indigenous youth the opportunity to see themselves reflected authentically through film and media. “Ācimowin,” means “sharing stories,”. Our ancestors passed down knowledge and records of historical events through storytelling. 

Today, the heart of the festival’s mission is to honour Indigenous narratives while fostering a more inclusive and equitable future within the arts. More than a celebration of Indigenous cinema, the festival was created with the intention to bring the world to our prairie community members. 

Festival attendees can expect film screenings for all audiences, authentic cultural programming, and inspiring Indigenous storytelling from across Canada and beyond. Ācimowin Film Festival is committed to eventually becoming an annual cultural cornerstone in Saskatchewan and a catalyst for long-term growth within the Indigenous film industry on the prairies.
