An event this bold doesn’t come to life without the creative energy of our community. We’re looking for passionate local artists to help bring the YXE Urban Games to life. Whether you create, perform, or inspire—this is your chance to get involved and be part of something unforgettable.

Call for Mural Artists

The YXE Urban Games returns this summer with an electrifying fusion of urban sports, street art, music, culture, and community celebration. For three jam-packed days, Saskatoon will transform into a city-wide playground featuring a premier outdoor 5x5 basketball tournament, local 3x3 basketball tournament, urban sport competitions, live mural-making, and performances.  

We are seeking 6 emerging or established artists to each create an original mural during the YXE Urban Games (July 18 - 20). This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your work in a vibrant, community-centered event that celebrates public art, sport, and culture. 

Mural Project Details 

  • Dimensions: 12 ft x 8 ft Artist Fee: $1,600 (includes cost of supplies) 
  • Artists receive a flat fee of $1,600 for their work. We will provide the mural boxes and prime the surfaces. Artists bring their own brushes, paints and supplies.  
  • Deadline to complete Mural: 5pm, July 20, 2025  
  • At the end of the festival, murals will be donated to YXE Urban Games partners, unless other arrangements are made with the artists.

We welcome proposals from both emerging and established artists who are excited to contribute to this vibrant community event taking place July 18th -19th-20th in Victoria Park.

Murals should embody the energy, diversity, and spirit of the Urban Games—a celebration of community connection, creative expression, active living, and cultural storytelling. 

We invite artists to interpret this theme broadly and boldly, using the opportunity to bring forward stories that matter, perspectives that resonate, and visuals that spark conversation and connection.

Your mural can be abstract or representational, symbolic or literal. What matters most is that it is authentic, thought-provoking, and alive with purpose.

We strongly encourage proposals from Indigenous artists, artists from equity-deserving communities, and those with connections to local or regional narratives.

Murals may also be featured beyond the festival in partner locations throughout Saskatoon.

YXE Urban Games is working with partners to display the final murals. Please let us know in your application if you are interested in responding to one of the following themes (optional):

Final artist selection will be made by June 15, 2025.Confirmed artists will receive a formal contract upon acceptance.
