About Alpha Kids & VibesYQR:
Alpha Kids Crew is a street dance collective specializing in Breaking that started in 2012 in Saskatoon SK. They have a diverse set of goals when it comes to this art, with some members focusing on high level competitions and performances, while others focus on community building by teaching and volunteering at various organizations. They travel across Canada and internationally to exchange with other Breaking milieus in order to elevate their understanding of Hip Hop culture.
VibesYQR was co-created by Edwardo Alvaro and Melissa Cassista in the summer of 2017. The idea was to bring together a non-judgmental dance community by providing free workshops where dancers of all experiences can learn fun combos. As the workshops grew in popularity, VibesYQR was also being presented with opportunities to perform at several events. In addition to performances and collaborations, they also have free street sessions in the summer where dancers of all skills can gather to practice, freestyle, and learn from each other. This pays homage to the start of the Street Dance culture. As a collective, some of the styles of dance they possess include Afro-beat/Afro-House, Hip Hop, Breakin, Contemporary, Lyrical, House, Popping, and more. Continuing forward, they want to strengthen the knowledge and practice of Street Dance culture for all to enjoy.
Cheer
CheerFest brings the intensity, creativity, and explosive athleticism of competitive cheer to the main stage at Victoria Park. This isn’t a traditional competition—this is cheer under the lights, in front of a crowd, with teams battling head-to-head in a high-energy showdown.
Teams of 4–5 athletes will perform a one-minute stunt sequence followed by a freestyle skills battle where creativity and difficulty take center stage. Expect showmanship, rival energy, and some serious air time. Divisions are split into U18 (Level 3/4) and Open (Level 5/6/7).
